Thalapathy Vijay, Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo to follow footsteps of blockbusters Ponniyin Selvan and Pathaan?

The makers of Leo came up with unexpected surprises for fans of Vijay a couple of weeks ago when they unveiled a host of updates, leaving them excited. The title announcement video which also revealed the release date was the icing on the cake. 

The gangster flick directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi on October 19. Seven Screen Studio is bankrolling the much-awaited project which will drop on Netflix post its theatrical release. The movie, which has music composed by Anirudh, is Vijay's second outing in 2023 after Varisu. 

The team is currently shooting in Kashmir and the long schedule in the north eastern state will continue for a few more weeks. Trisha, Gautham Menon and Mathew Thomas among others are part of the ongoing schedule. Anbariv is choreographing action sequences while Philomin Raj and Manoj Paramahamsa are handling editing and cinematography respectively. 

The film brings Vijay and Arjun together for the first time, apart from the former joining hands with Trisha after 15 years. Sanjay Dutt, Mysskin, Sandy, Mansoor Ali Khan and Priya Anand will be seen essaying key roles in Leo. 

We hear that the makers are planning to release the film in IMAX format. This is going to elevate the hype surrounding the movie and take its popularity to the next level. An official announcement is awaited though. 

Ponniyin Selvan 1 was the first Tamil film to have an IMAX release. Its second installment, which is hitting the screens on April 28, too, will be released in the format. Shah Rukh Khan's recent release Pathaan also had an IMAX version in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
