Thalapathy 69 is Jana Nayagan! Vijay, who is one of the topmost stars in India and enjoys a massive fanbase, announced last year his retirement from acting to concentrate on full-time politics. He announced that Thalapathy 69 will be his final film before he bids adieu to his illustrious film career. On Sunday, January 26, the first look poster of the film was released, along with the title. Produced by the KVN Productions banner, the upcoming film is helmed by H Vinoth in his maiden collaboration with the actor.

The much-awaited announcement and revelation are finally here! Thalapathy 69 which is touted to be the final project of Vijay before he enters full-time politics, has been titled Jana Nayagan. The first look poster of the film was released which shows Vijay clicking a selfie while his followers are standing, clad in white.
It is interesting to note that the title which translates to people’s hero, is apt for Vijay’s career ahead as a politician who announced that he will be contesting in the upcoming 2026 elections.
Apart from Vijay, the film also features Pooja Hegde as the female lead, reuniting with the actor for the second time after the 2022 action-drama Beast. Actors Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Gautham Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, and others are also part of the film.
Is Jana Nayagan a remake of Bhagavanth Kesari?
There are strong speculations that Vijay’s film is the remake of Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari which starred Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role. However, the makers have not confirmed if the rumor is true or not.
Jana Nayagan has music by Anirudh Ravichander and Sathyan Sooryan ISC cranking the camera. Anl Arasu is the action coordinator. The film is slated for October 2025 release.
