Thalapathy 68: Vijay at Hollywood studio, Venkat Prabhu promises a visual spectacle

Even before the release of Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay's most-awaited Leo, the hype for his next movie, which is temporarily titled Thalapathy 68, is escalating. 

A picture of Vijay at the LA airport has gone viral sparking a lot of curiosity. He flew to Los Angeles earlier this week to collaborate with a Hollywood studio for the upcoming movie. Thalapathy 68 director Venkat Prabhu added to the growing excitement around the project by sharing a few pictures of Vijay at the Hollywood studio. One of the pictures shows Vijay sitting inside an advanced technology setup, surrounded by a globe of lights."Welcome to the future!!," Venkat captioned the photos.

Tamil cinema's growing technological needs

It seems very similar to the technology that director Shankar has employed for his upcoming movie Indian 2 . Earlier this year, Shankar enlisted the services of Hollywood's leading visual effects studio Lola VFX for Indian 2. Lola VFX is known for their path-breaking work in de-ageing effects, in blockbuster movies like The Irishman and several Marvel superhero movies. 

It's said that Shankar is using de-ageing technology to shoot younger portions of Kamal in Indian 2. 

The Hollywood studio behind Thalapathy 68

The producers of Thalapathy 68 have hired the services of the University of Southern California (USC) Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT). USC ICT has been involved in various Hollywood projects, including television shows and movies. It has so far won two Academy Awards for visual effects. 

Vijay to play a double role in Thalapathy 68

Speculations were rife that Vijay would be seen in a double role in Venkat Prabhu's directorial outing. An official confirmation is still awaited. However, Ventak's latest tweet from the Hollywood studio has added more fuel to that speculation. It's also said that the filmmakers are in talks with the likes of Simran and Jyothika to play the female lead in the movies. 

We cannot expect more interesting updates from the producers before the release of Leo. 

The most-awaited movie of 2023

Written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Leo is now in the post-production. It will be Vijay's second release this year after 2023. Besides Vijay, Leo also stars Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Gautham Menon and Arjun among others. 

Leo is due in cinemas on October 19.
