It is known that Vijay, who is busy shooting for Vamshi Paidipally's Varisu, will join Lokesh Kanagaraj's much-anticipated Thalapathy 67 (tentative title) after completing the former. Varisu, which is billed as a family drama, is slated for a Pongal release in 2023.

Fans of Vijay are more curious about Thalapathy 67, thanks to the immense popularity director Lokesh has been enjoying ever since his previous outing Vikram went on to become a humongous blockbuster. Many speculations have been doing the rounds about the movie with regard to its cast and crew, but no confirmation has been made from the makers.

A few weeks ago, Lokesh took to Twitter to inform that he is taking a break from social media for a while as he and his team have begun location scouting for the project. According to a trusted source, the movie is likely to go on floors in December.

The names of Mohanlal, Sanjay Dutt and Samantha among others have been surfacing with regard to playing pivotal roles in the film. However, fans are left with no option but to wait until a confirmation comes from the team's side. It is expected that Anirudh Ravichander, who scored music for Vikram, will be roped in to compose music for Thalapathy 67.

The project will bring together Vijay and Lokesh for the second time after Master (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) which was released in 2021. Though Master went on to become a huge hit and revived the Tamil Nadu box office during the pandemic, many were of the opinion that the movie was neither a 'Vijay film' nor a typical 'Lokesh Kanagaraj movie'.

The filmmaker had recently confirmed during a few press interactions that Thalapathy 67, on the contrary, will be an out-and-out 'Lokesh film'.
