Rajinikanth, who is currently on a high with the massive success of his latest outing Jailer, is set to join hands with talented filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for his next outing. The much-awaited project, which has been tentatively titled Thalaivar 171, was announced officially in September, this year. Recently, director Lokesh dropped big updates on the upcoming movie, which is touted to be an out-and-out action thriller.
Lokesh Kanagaraj to start Thalaivar 171 scripting next week
In a recent chat with Times of India, the hitmaker confirmed that he is planning to kickstart the scripting of Thalaivar 171, by next week. As always, director Lokesh Kanagaraj is planning to take a long break from social media to focus on the writing of the project, which marks his first collaboration with superstar Rajinikanth.
Even though nothing much has been revealed about the highly anticipated project, the hitmaker has earlier confirmed that the Rajinikanth starrer is not a part of his famous action cinema universe, LCU. Instead, Lokesh is planning to direct a standalone action film with the superstar.
Thalaivar 171 to start rolling in April 2024
Interestingly, in his chat with Times Of India, Lokesh Kanagaraj also revealed that he is planning to kickstart the shooting of the Rajinikanth starrer by April 2024. However the final decision will be made only after the veteran actor wraps up the shooting of his 170th project, which is helmed by acclaimed filmmaker TJ Gnanavel Raja.
In that case, Thalaivar 171 will only hit the big screens by the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. However, the official updates on the shooting date will be announced only by the first quarter of next year. Anirudh Ravichander is composing songs and the original score for the project. Anbarivu masters handle the action choreography. The untitled project is bankrolled by the prestigious banner, Sun Pictures.
