Thalaivar 170: Manju Warrier joins the cast of the Rajinikanth-starrer

The makers of Thalaivar 170, starring Rajinikanth, have finally confirmed the female lead in the movie. Malayalam actress Manju Warrier has joined the cast that also includes Ritika Singh and Dushara Vijayan.

Making the announcement, Lyca Productions stated, “Welcoming the smart, stylish and skilled Ms Manju Warrier on board for Thalaivar 170. The team has gotten more graceful with the addition of the beautiful Manju Warrier.”

Manju’s most recent appearance in a Tamil film was alongside Ajith Kumar in Thunivu. The actress made her Tamil debut with Dhanush, in Vetrimaaran’s Asuran. Her other upcoming Tamil projects include Mr X, helmed by Manu Anand, starring Arya and  Gautham Karthik.

In the Malayalam industry, Manju will be seen alongside Mohanlal in the sequel to Lucifer, titled Empuraan. Her previous Malayalam releases, Ayisha and Vellari Pattanam, did not perform very well at the box office.

Ritika Singh and Dushara Vijayan in Thalaivar 170

Ritika, who made her Tamil debut in Irudhi Suttru, is part of the Thalaivar 170 cast. She was last seen in a lively dance sequence in Dulquer Salmaan’s gangster drama film King of Kotha. Meanwhile, Dushara’s previous releases include Aneethi.

About Thalaivar 170 and Rajinikanth’s upcoming films

Rajinikanth reportedly plays a retired police officer in Thalaivar 170, who fights against a corrupt system. The film is touted to deal with topics like fake encounter killings. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, the music of the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander , who has been consistently delivering hit tracks in the Tamil industry. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth will also be seen in a cameo role in his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s film Lal Salaam. After Thalaivar 170, the Jailer star is expected to collaborate with Lokesh Kanagaraj for a film.
