Test 2025: Release date, cast and crew, trailer, OTT partner and plot

Test is an upcoming Tamil film, which is set to release very soon. Starring actors Madhavan, Nayanthara and Siddharth in the lead roles. Before the film releases, here is everything you need to know about the film.

Test release date

Test is set to release on April 4. The film will be skipping a theatrical release, and will premiere on Netflix directly.

Test cast

The primary cast members of Test are actors Madhavan, Nayanthara, Siddharth and Meera Jasmine, among others. Test marks Madhavan and Meera Jasmine’s third collaboration after Run and Ayutha Ezhuthu. Meanwhile, Siddharth and Madhavan have already worked in Ayutha Ezhuthu, and Rang De Basanti. Actors Kaali Venkat, Nassar and Vinay Varma also appear in Test.

Test crew

Test is written and directed by S Sashikanth in his directorial debut. Sashikanth is primarily a producer who has backed films like Mandela, Vikram Vedha and Tamizh Padam under YNOT Studios. Shakthishree Gopalan, who has a prolific discography as a playback singer, will be scoring music for the film, making her debut. Viraj Singh Gohil is the cinematographer, and TS Suresh is the editor.

Test plot

Essentially, the film will revolve around three individuals who are from different paths and their needs are different. A drama, which has an element of cricket, Test is essentially an intense story where passion meets survival.

Test trailer

The trailer of the film was released recently. In Test, Nayanthara plays Kumudha, a teacher who is earning to have a child. Her husband, Saravanan, who is also a scientist, is played by Madhavan. Siddharth plays Arjun, a seasoned batter who is now struggling to come back to form.

The trailer shows Kumudha introducing her Saravanan to Arjun. As she says that they first met at the Test match Siddharth was playing at, she also tells that her husband is running a canteen, irking Madhavan. The lives of three individuals entwine, as each of their passions is put on the line. The film promises to be an emotional roller-coaster ride, which extends beyond the cricket ground.

Test OTT partner

Sashikanth’s films like Mandela and Jagame Thandiram released directly on Netflix. Similarly, Test has also opted for a direct-to-OTT release. Test marks Netflix’s first Tamil original in 2025.
