Telugu Indian Idol 2: Has singer Karthik quit aha’s music show? Here’s what we know!

Telugu Indian Idol, despite being in its second season, has already become a brand to reckon with, among aspirant singers who’re looking for a platform to showcase their mettle. After registering impressive viewership in the first edition, the show returned for another season a month ago. Composer S Thaman, singer Karthik were part of both seasons, while Geetha Madhuri and Hemachandra were the latest additions as a judge and the host for this season.

The second season of the show, whose episodes land on the platform every Friday and Saturday, is currently in its fifth week. Three episodes featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna titled Gala with Bala were a hit with music buffs and it was followed by another entertaining weekend where composer Koti was invited as a guest. This week, rapper, musician Baba Sehgal makes his presence felt in the show.

However, with the arrival of Baba Sehgal, judge Geetha Madhuri dropped a bombshell by sharing that singer Karthik has quit show midway and described it as a ‘harsh truth’. In fact, this was suggested through a mask of singer Karthik that Baba Sehgal wore while he came to the stage. It’s not known if Karthik’s exit from the show is only for this weekend or a permanent one.

Karthik is frequently getting music offers in Telugu recently - he has sung in popular films like Anni Manchi Sakunamule, Virupaksha, Shyam Singha Roy, to name a few. Besides Telugu Indian Idol, Karthik was also part of the judging panel at Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Senions (season 3) on Zee Tamil alongside singers Vijay Prakash, Srinivas and Remya Nambeesan.

The singer was also part of maestro Ilaiayaraaja’s troupe that performed in Hyderabad recently. It remains to be seen if Karthik’s absence from aha is for real or part of a well-devised marketing strategy.
