Pushpa teaser out: Allu Arjun looks more intense than ever

Tollywood actor Allu Arjun’s latest film Pushpa has been highly anticipated by fans all across India. Ahead of his 38th birthday on April 8, the filmmakers of Pushpa planned to give him a surprise by releasing the teaser. On Wednesday, they gave fans a sneak peak into the action thriller film. This Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna starrer has been directed by Sukumar who has fan favourite films like Rangasthalam and Arya under his belt.

Launched in a glorious event at Hyderabad in JRC convention centre, the teaser presents Allu Arjun as a sandalwood smuggler. His intense look complements the action sequences in the teaser, which include several gunshots and the actor wielding an axe. The 1 minute and 16 second long teaser also features Rashmika Mandanna in a traditional look. The teaser ends with a birthday wish for the Tollywood star, Alla Arjun.

Releasing on August 13, the film was primarily shot in Vishakhapatnam and East Godavari districts in Andhra Pradesh. Some parts of the film were also shot in Kerala. Like most projects that are being filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic, Pushpa’s shooting was also halted for several months owing to the restrictions. The shooting for the film resumed in November 2020.

Director Sukumar commented on the styling of Allu Arjun in the film, stating it to be unique like his character. The director was positive that Allu Arjun’s character would prove to be iconic. As the teaser comes to a close, the birthday wish for Allu Arjun is accompanied by his title ‘Stylish Star’ which transitions to ‘Iconic Star’. This change in the actor’s title has come from Sukumar. Allu Arjun had revealed that he was hoping to recreate magic with Sukumar in a social media post, having already worked with the director for the two installments of Arya.

A short video, titled ‘Prelude of Pushpa Raj’ was also released by the filmmakers before the teaser. Allu Arjun plays the character of Pushpa Raj, a lorry driver involved in sandalwood smuggling. For the uninformed, the movie and his character is inspired by real-life events.

Pushpa is a multilingual film which will cater to audiences of five languages on it’s release- Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. The film also features Jagapathi Babu and Prakash Raj.

Inspired by the word ‘Thaggedhe le’, which Allu Arjun’s character uses in Pushpa, Telugu singer and rapper Roll Rida released a song to commemorate the actor’s birthday. The title of the song is also ‘Thaggedhe le’, which is the Telugu word for not compromising.
