Prasanth Periyasamy's sophomore project, Vilangu, which dropped on Zee5 on February 18, opened to positive reviews from critics and the audience alike. The riveting screenplay of the series and the performances of Vimal, Ineya, Balasaravanan and Ravi, earned praises from all quarters. It is hailed as the most impressive Tamil series by many post its release.
The makers have now organized a special show for police officers as its story revolves around the different ways in which a serial killer keeps cops in a police station on their toes.
Retired DGP Sangram Jangid was one of the eminent cops who attended the show along with the film crew. The cop, who served the department for 35 years, hung up his boots around three years ago. He hogged the limelight after the release of Theeran Adhigaram Ondru, as he had headed the mission based on which the hit movie was made.
Vimal and Balasaravanan took to Twitter to thank him and other cops who attended the show and showered praises on the series. The makers also released a few pictures from the event where the film crew was seen taking selfies with the cops.
The social media handle of Zee5 released a video in which director Prasanth thanked the cops. He said, "I'm glad that all the cops who watched the movie liked it. In fact, the idea of arranging a show for them struck me when a few cops appreciated the film through messages."
He added, "It's heartening to know that we succeeded in what we intended to do. I request those who haven't watched Vilangu to experience it as soon as possible. I'm sure it won't let you down." Dinesh and Ganesh Siva have handled cinematography and editing respectively for Vilangu, while Ajesh has composed music.
