On November 3, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour – a documentary based on popular concerts of Taylor Swift, hit the theatres in India. Over 25,000 tickets were sold in the country by the end of Friday evening. This number is way higher than the Day 1 box-office collection of Bhumi Pednekar-Arjun Kapoor starrer The Lady Killer, which only managed to sell 500 tickets in India last day.
This development also comes at a time when Shah Rukh Khan's film Jawan and Akshay Kumar's movie 'Mission Raniganj' is available at the theatres.
What is the Taylor Swift effect in India?
Taylor Swift is the most popular American singer-songwriter in the USA. She has over 275 million followers on Instagram. Not only this, but The Eras Tour generated close to $5 billion in consumer spending in the United States alone.
Last day, the 33-year-old singer’s movie arrived at the theatres in India. Surprisingly, the American singing sensation has made a mark in India as well.
Various videos surfaced online today, especially on microblogging site X, showing Indians dancing and singing Taylor Swift’s iconic songs at the theatres.
One X user commented, “Look what you made us do! @taylorswift13's effect in India. The first day, first show of the Eras Tour movie in Noida, India #TaylorSwift1989 #TaylorSwift #TaylorSwiftTheErasTour #Noida”
