Takkar was supposed to give Siddharth a huge break at the box office. The star has hoped that the movie will redefine his onscreen image and put his career on the trajectory of an action hero. But, it didn't happen.
Takkar, starring Divyansha Kaushik as the female lead, failed to make an impression on the Tamil audience at the box office. And the film is now getting ready to become available for streaming soon. Netflix owns the streaming rights and you can expect it to arrive on the platform by July 6. However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited.
Takkar is a youthful action drama, which is written and directed by Karthik G. Krish. The film delves into a romantic adventure between two rebellious youngsters. Siddharth and Divyansha Kaushik portray the lead pair, defying societal norms and embracing unconventional lifestyles. Their pursuit of freedom comes with a price, as they find themselves pursued by a money-driven antagonist and his comically inept gang of henchmen. Divyansha's character embodies strong feminine values and harbours a deep resentment towards anything associated with patriarchy. The film aims to explore how two individuals with contrasting worldviews defy all odds to fall in love.
Takkar, however, opened to poor reviews from the critics and the audience alike. "In a delicate moment in Takkar, Gunashekhar asks Lucky this: "Do you hate all men?" She responds in affirmation, "Yes, I'm a feminist." When you understand that you are watching a movie made by a director who thinks feminism is equal to hating men, you know you are in a territory of obnoxious wisdom. If you are a progressive thinker and you are alert to gender stereotyping and blatant body shaming, this movie would drive you to the edge," OTTplay's film critic Manoj Kumar R wrote in his review.
Takkar also stars Yogi Babu, Abimanyu Singh, Munishkanth and RJ Vigneshkanth.
