Actor extraordinaire, Rowan Atkinson, has enjoyed a remarkable career over the decades. Despite portraying a childish character such as Mr Bean, Atkinson is remarkably articulate and well educated with a Master’s degree in Electrical engineering from the University of Oxford.

He gained prominence as a standup comedian in the 80s and then became the leading man as the titular character in Blackadder, a pseudo-historical anthology sitcom. The series went to on be revered as one of the greatest sitcoms aired on BBC, which also featured other British stars such as Tony Robinson, Stephen Fry, and Hugh Laurie, early in their careers.

Atkinson would later play various roles across genres in films such as Johnny English, Keeping Mum, Love Actually, and The Lion King. He also starred in the TV series Maigret, as the French detective Jules Maigret.
