Sharmajee Ki Beti marks the directorial debut of Tahira Kashyap. With the film, the director brought a slice-of-life story to the screen which revolves around five women who are from different walks of life. The film skipped the theatrical release and was directly streamed on Amazon Prime Video from June 28. In an exclusive conversation with OTTplay, Tahira talked about viewers being critical of content on digital platforms.

With the quantity of content available on OTT platforms, when asked how she made sure of making content that connects everyone to her film, Tahira Kashyap said, "For me connectivity and connection are very important. If I’m not able to connect to my readers or not going to connect with my audience then what is the point of a piece of art? And if it has something that I do for myself then I keep it there but if you’re putting it in a platform then it has to reach people and it has to make a connection, so that was very important for me. And that I’ve tried to keep throughout the film."
Speaking further about how she made sure that her film makes viewers feel connected throughout, she said, "Sitting in your seat, if you’re watching this film, it should evoke something in you, it should evoke some emotion in you. It’s not necessary that it will always be happy or exciting, even if it disgusts you, even if it’s sadness or anger, it should move you, shake you, you can’t be still and dumb. That was my intention."
"Yes! It’s a time of trolls, it’s a time of appreciation as well. There is immediate appreciation but there is immediate negativity as well. I think you have to see both things and not let it take you down and not let it take you to the cloud. I know that this work gives me joy and I really want to keep doing this for the rest of my life. I really want to make more and more films," she added.
