Tahir Raj Bhasin, who kicked off his Bollywood career as the main antagonist in the film Mardaani (2014), is back with yet another OTT series, Sultan of Delhi. The actor is set to bring the whole vibe of playing a gangster set in the world of Milan Luthria in the Disney+ Hotstar series. The actor, during a recent interview, revealed that he observed his full-on alpha character complete with vintage jackets and firearms in the upcoming show.

Character and style in Sultan of Delhi:

With the series, Milan makes his OTT debut, and Tahir plays the role of Arjun, an ambitious man who wants to become the most powerful gangster in Delhi. The actor told Mid Day that it sounded like a lot of fun to make a stunt-filled, gun-toting action series. He also claimed that even when the story is grounded, you can expect grandeur and an element of hyper-realism from Milan Luthria's works.

Preparation for the role:

Tahir knew that the filmmaker wanted the main character to be a swashbuckling hero before filming began. This man, he added, walks into a room and assumes command. The actor had a month to gain roughly eight kilograms for the role. Then he went through a firearms training program. James Dean served as inspiration for the hair and leather jackets he wore. Domestically, they looked up to Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra of the '70s and '60s.

Mardaani (2014), Chhichhore (2019), and Netflix series Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein (2022) are just a few of Bhasin's standout roles during his nine-year career. Meanwhile, Milan's storytelling approach, which thrives on vast scales, is on full display in Sultan of Delhi, which also stars Mouni Roy and Anupriya Goenka and is possibly his biggest series yet.

Taking centre stage:

When asked if he is nervous about taking centre stage in an ensemble cast, Tahir said that as an artist who moved to Mumbai in search of work, he finds himself in a privileged situation now, with high expectations. To admit that he is feeling the heat would be either defamatory or indulgent. These are the times he prayed for.

Sultan of Delhi is set for its Disney+ Hotstar premiere on October 13, 2023.
