Sweet Tooth trailer: A captivating look at a post-apocalyptic world

The much-awaited trailer of Sweet Tooth, which is based on a DC comic book and is produced by Susan Downey and Robert Downey Jr, dropped on Monday and offered a magical look at a post-apocalyptic world. The show will premiere on Netflix on June 4.

The trailer of the fantasy series reveals that the world was in chaos with people fighting each other till nature intervened. This also led to “a miracle” – the birth of human-animal hybrid species. The post-apocalyptic world, however, has humans who want to protect the hybrids as well as those who want to hunt them down.

The trailer video especially focuses on Gus, a young boy with deer features, lives a quiet life deep in the woods with his father. Though he loves his religious father, he yearns to escape as he learns that there is no fire past the trees, but simply more land. However, what lies ahead is also a world filled with dangers that Gus must now navigate with a wanderer named Jepperd, who decides to help the boy.

Created by Jim Mickle, the series stars Christian Convery as Gus and Nonso Anozie as Jepperd. Adeel Akhtar, Aliza Vellani, Stefania LaVie Owen, Dania Ramirez, Neil Sandilands, Will Forte and James Brolin are also part of the cast.

Downey Jr also shared the trailer on his Instagram handle, captioning it, “Sweet Tooth trailer. Me and the missus are excited to share a new trailer for our show @SweetToothNetflix. A post-apocalyptic fairy tale based on the beloved DC comic. Arriving June 4th on Netflix!”
