Swatantrya Veer Savarkar box office collection day 1 - Randeep Hooda's directorial venture hit the silver screen on March 22, 2024. It clashed with Kunal Kemmu's film Madgaon Express at the box office. Despite a BO clash, Swantantrya Veer Savarkar gave stiff competition to Divyenndu and Pratik Gandhi-starrer. While Madgaon Express minted Rs 1.50 crore, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar earned a little over Rs 1 crore.
Randeep Hooda and Ankita Lokhande's film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar opened to mixed responses from both critics and audiences alike. It could be the reason the film got a poor start at the box office. According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar collected Rs 1.15 crore on day one at the ticket window.
The film is based on the life of Indian freedom fighter and reformer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, also known as Veer Savarkar. Helmed by Randeep, the film has been bankrolled by Anand Pandit and Sandeep Singh. On the other hand, the film is co-written by Randeep and Utkarsh Naithani.
Randeep Hooda plays the role of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar while Ankita Lokhande is seen as his wife Yamuna Bai. Apinderdeep Singh, on the other hand, essays the character of Harnam Singh. For those who are unaware, the run time of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is approximately 3 hours.
According to media reports, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is likely to be released on ZEE5. However, an official announcement of the same is yet to be made. The film will reportedly drop on the streaming platform after 45 to 60 days of its theatrical release.
Meanwhile, in an interview with India Today, Randeep Hooda revealed what led him to co-write Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. "It was a series of events that led me to it. I was cast as an actor in this film and, since there was no real script, I kept waiting for it and I kept losing weight. So, I wrote it myself with my co-writer Utkarsh Naithani, and then the universe conspired," the actor said.
