Fans have noticed how much they've missed Sushmita Sen throughout her eight-year hiatus since her 2020 comeback with Aarya. In the new series Taali, the former Miss Universe plays transgender rights activist Shreegauri Sawant.

During a recent interaction with the Indian Express, the actor revealed that her extended hiatus from the industry was due to her inability to kowtow to egos. She also addressed some lighthearted questions and was asked to pick between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in terms of on-screen chemistry. Sushmita laughed and said that she taught one of them chemistry before adding that she has "very different chemistry" with both of them. In Main Hoon Na, Sushmita co-starred with Shah Rukh Khan as a chemistry teacher, and in Biwi No. 1, she was seen with Salman, who plays an already-married man to Karisma Kapoor.

Better chemistry:

The actor further told the portal that Salman and she got along better than everybody else. It was of the gunda-pals variety. While it was a romance with Shah Rukh, Sushmita was also asked who she would like to collaborate with in the future. Her cheerful response was "both." She added that you shouldn't bring her down to their level; it's always both.

OTT debut without a male star:

Talking about her OTT debut, Sushmita was asked if she ever dreamed that her galloping solo without a male star, Aarya (2020), would go on to break all records. The actor beamed as she explained to the portal that the series represents the fulfilment of her hopes and dreams after an eight-year absence. She also explained why she chose this adaptation over two others that had won Baftas from competing streaming services.

When Sushmita returned to work, she was certain that someone would handle these responsibilities. To be able to say no, one needs an enormous reservoir of patience. One has to say no without giving in to their doubts. She hopes to play the lead role in a production or in a role that a writer has endorsed, so when she returns, it will be with a sense of duty.

Making Aarya happen

Sushmita will spend three months studying, attending workshops, and unlearning if one tells her to. This is what she was hoping for, and she couldn't believe her luck when she met Aarya. The actor reached out to three of the biggest platforms, and they all responded with incredible scripts. Thus, defeating Aarya was a cakewalk as it had a "killer combination" with the writing and Ram Madhvani.
