In the most surprising news, Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha is out on Netflix. Without any prior announcements, the streaming platform made it official on their social media pages that the movie is now streaming. The film, which is the official Hindi adaptation of Forrest Gump, features Kareena Kapoor Khan as the female lead and is directed by Advait Chandan.
While making the announcement, Netflix India shared a new poster of Laal Singh Chaddha on their Instagram page and wrote, "Keep your p̶o̶p̶c̶o̶r̶n̶ golgappas ready because Laal Singh Chaddha is NOW STREAMING! #AamirKhan @kareenakapoorkhan @monajsingh @aamirkhanproductions @viacom18studios @paramountpics."
Earlier, Aamir himself had announced that he would let Laal Singh Chaddha stream on any OTT platform only after six months of its theatrical run. But it seems like the poor box office performance of the film has got to Aamir Khan, as he made the film available on OTT earlier than scheduled.
In a statement, prior to the release of Laal Singh Chaddha, the star said in a statement that one of the main reasons he believes there is less interest in going to the movies is that movies quickly appear on OTT once they are released in cinemas. So Aamir has always made an effort to space out his films by six months. The actor is not sure what the industry does, but he prefers to maintain a six-month gap. Aamir thus sought to replicate that for all of his projects, and so far, they have been successful in doing that.
Laal Singh Chaddha also features Naga Chaitanya making his Hindi debut and Mona Singh in a supporting role. The film marks the second outing of Chandan as a director after Secret Superstar, which also had Aamir Khan in a pivotal role.
Laal Singh Chaddha hit the big screens on August 11, 2022, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
