Tamil superstar Suriya's upcoming movie Kanguva is one of the most-awaited movies across the country. Made on a massive budget, the movie is written and directed by Siva. And the filmmakers are seemingly leaving no stone unturned to fully capitalise on the excitement around the movie.
The film's team revealed a glimpse of their plan to give Kanguva the biggest worldwide theatrical launch in Suriya's career. And they have also devised big plans for its subsequent digital release in view making this movie accessible for more people around the world.
Producer G. Dhananjayan, who is also the CEO of Studio Green, which bankrolled Kanguva, discussed the marketing strategy of the filmmakers in recent interviews. "Post-production is currently underway, with CGI work happening in Mumbai. The entire footage will be converted into 3D and dubbed into 10 languages. The film will release in approximately 5 or 6 languages in theatres and will be available for streaming in 10 languages," he revealed.
The streaming rights of Kanguva have been sold to Amazon Prime Video for a record sum. Producer KE Gnanavel Raja confirmed that the streaming rights for the film in South Indian languages alone were sold for Rs 80 crore to Prime Video , with the rights for Hindi and other languages yet to be sold. This pre-release deal highlights the immense demand and anticipation surrounding the film.
The producers are also expected to secure lucrative deals for satellite and audio rights. Reports suggest that the pre-theatrical revenue of Kanguva may surpass that of Thalapathy Vijay's highly anticipated film, Leo.
Dhananjayan also noted that the production of this movie was a massive effort and it would take more time than initially thought, while justifying the delay in releasing the film's teaser.
According to filmmakers, Kanguva will come out in cinemas by April next year. And a sequel to this film is already in the works.
