If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, the Hindi rights of Suriya's upcoming film, which is currently being referred to as Suriya42, has been bagged by Pen Studios. We hear that the studio has acquired the theatrical, digital and satellite rights of the film, for a whopping amount of Rs 100 crore. However, the studio is yet to make an official announcement of the same. Meanwhile, fans of the actor are already on cloud nine.
It was only in September that the makers of Suriya42 had announced that the film will be a pan-India project and that it will be shot on a grand scale in 3D. The film is likely to be released in 10 languages. The film marks Suriya's maiden collaboration with Siva, whose last release was Superstar Rajinikanth's Annaththe. Suriya42 also marks the debut of Bollywood star Disha Patani in Tamil. The glimpse of the film, which was released earlier, shows Suriya's character as a warrior who is watching over a battleground. An eagle is seen perched on his shoulder. It looks like the film will be about reincarnation.
Suriya41 is backed by Gnananvel Raja of Studio Green. According to Pinkvilla, this is said to be the biggest buy for a Tamil film by Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios. It is to be noted that Pen Studios acquired the Hindi rights to Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram (in which Suriya appeared in a cameo as Rolex) and Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: I.
Suriya's news about him walking out of his mentor Bala's upcoming film Vanangaan had come as a major disappointment for Suriya fans. However, this news is likely to cheer them up. Suriya will also appear in a cameo in the Hindi remake of his National Award winning film, Soorarai Pottru. The Hindi version, too, will be helmed by Sudha Kongara.
