Suriya is stunned by Surya S/O Krishnan's reception in Telugu states: 'You guys are the best'

Tamil superstar Suriya expressed his excitement and surprise at the thundering response that the re-release of his movie Surya S/O Krishnan has received in the Telugu states. The Telugu version of the Tamil original has made quite a dent at the box office with his re-release. 

"This love is a huge surprise!!! A big thank you from team #SuriyaSonOfKrishnan Awestruck - you guys are the best!!," tweeted Suriya, while sharing a video of his fans celebrating the movie in a theatre.

Surya S/O Krishnan has been re-released in a significant number of screens in the Telugu states and it's running to packed houses. Neither the trade nor filmmakers expected such a welcome for a movie, which is 15 years old. The movie was first released in cinemas in November 2008. Written and directed by Gautham Menon, the movie became an instant classic. And it soon became one of the landmark films in Suriya's career. 

One of the highlights of Surya S/O Krishnan was Suriya's physical transformation. Suriya got shredded and sported washboard abs, setting a new trend in the Tamil film industry at the time. It's after this movie Suriya emerged as a model for fitness and good health. 

In Vaaranam Aayiram aka Surya S/O Krishnan, Suriya plays a double role of father and son. The movie is touted to be a semi-autobiography and a Gautham's love letter to his late father, who had passed away a year before the movie's release. The movie also had Sameera Reddy, Simran, and Divya Spandana in the lead roles. 

On the career front, Suriya is busy shooting for his upcoming movie Kanguva. Written and directed by Siva, the movie is a period drama starring Suriya as a medieval warlord.
