Suriya is going through a rough patch in his acting career, with the massive failure of his ambitious film, Kanguva. However, the National Award-winning actor is all set to bounce back with some highly promising films, including Retro and Vaadivaasal. Now, the recent updates suggest that Suriya is keen to collaborate with talents from Malayalam cinema, and is in talks with leading filmmakers Manjummel Boys fame Chidambaram, Amal Neerad, and actor-director Basil Joseph, for his upcoming films.
The National Award-winning actor, who impressed his deep admiration for Malayalam cinema in his recent interviews, is reportedly keen to collaborate with the talents from the industry. Earlier, Bheeshma Parvam director Amal Neerad was spotted at the location of Suriya’s Retro, and rumours on the duo’s collaboration started doing rounds. As per the reports, the Nadippin Nayagan of Tamil cinema is indeed in talks with the cinematographer-filmmaker, for a stylish action flick.
Interestingly, the recent rumours suggests that Suriya is also in talks with Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram, and popular actor-director Basil Joseph, for his upcoming projects. According to the rumour mills, the popular star recently had multiple interactions with these three highly sought-after filmmakers of Malayalam cinema. If things fall in place, the actor might officially announce his collaborations with Chidambaram, Basil Joseph, and Amal Neerad, in a few weeks. However, none of these reports are officially confirmed yet.
The National Award-winning actor is set to make a comeback to big screens with Retro, the highly anticipated romantic action thriller, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Retro is set to hit the big screens on May 1, 2025, as Suriya’s first release of the year. The talented actor is joining hands with the popular actor-filmmaker RJ Balaji, for a comedy drama film. The untitled project reportedly features Suriya in the role of an advocate. After wrapping up his current commitments, the actor is planning to kickstart the filming of long-delayed Vaadivaasal, directed by Vetrimaaran.
