Actor Suriya, who was last seen in Etharkkum Thunindhavan, next made multiple cameo appearances as Rolex in Vikram and in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. While the actor is currently involved in the post-production works of the upcoming film Kanguva, Suriya dropped an update on his upcoming film with director Sudha Kongara.
The actor's film with Sudha, which was tentatively called Suriya 43, is now called Puranaanooru. The makers had released a glimpse of the film, suggesting that Puranaanooru is only a part of the title.
In a statement issued on the letterhead of his production company 2D Entertainment, the team stated, "Puranaanooru requires more time. This collaboration is very special and close to our hearts. We are working towards giving you our best. We will be going on floors very soon. Thank you for your constant love and support."

Puranaanooru is backed by Suriya and Jyothika’s home banner 2D Entertainment and marks Sudha’s second collaboration with Suriya after the critically acclaimed Soorarai Pottru. Apart from Suriya, the upcoming project also features actors Nazriya Fahadh, Dulquer Salmaan and Vijay Varma. The music will be scored by GV Prakash Kumar, who also scored for Soorarai Pottru. Touted to be a period action drama on the anti-Hindi riots, it marks GV Prakash's 100th outing as a composer.
Meanwhile, Suriya is currently working with director Siruthai Siva on a film titled Kanguva. Another period action drama, Kanguva is yet to get a release date. Hindi actors Bobby Deol and Disha Patani are also part of the cast. A special teaser of the film will be unveiled later on Tuesday.

The team had earlier revealed that Kanguva is in the post-production phase, with Suriya dubbing for his portions. The makers had said that the film is set to captivate audiences across the nation as it is released in multiple languages, and promised a cinematic experience like no other.
