Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari gets a re-release: Here's when you can watch Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana Shaikh's underrated gem on big screen

In 2020, the Abhishek Sharma directorial Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari became the first film to hit theatres amid the COVID-19-induced lockdown since March. Although the film received positive responses from critics and the people who watched, it went on to become an underrated gem. The lead actors, Manoj Bajpayee and Fatima Sana Shaikh, who co-starred with Diljit Dosanjh in the film, have now announced that Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari will re-release in theatres. Yes, the film will hit the big screen once again on October 18, 2024, nearly four years after its original release date.

The actors announced the release on social media, sharing their excitement for bringing the film to viewers who couldn't leave due to the lockdown.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic's 50% occupancy requirement in India, the film opened in theatres on November 15, 2020, Diwali.

Plot overview

In Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, set in the 1990s, Mangal (Manoj Bajpayee), a detective, tells the bride's family negative things about Suraj (Diljit Dosanjh), ruining his marriage preparations. In his vengeful rage, Suraj takes an interest in Mangal's stunning sister Tina (Fatima Sana Shaikh). In modern times, it is common practice for a girl's parents to employ a private investigator to research the backgrounds of potential suitors.

Supriya Pilgaonkar plays Rekha Rane, and Neha Pendse plays Kavya Godbole. Numerous supporting actors, including Annu Kapoor, Vijay Raaz, and Fatima Sana Shaikh, do a commendable job.

Shokhi Banerjee writes the film's screenplay, while Rohan Shankar writes the dialogue.

Even though life was clinging to normalcy following the COVID-19 outbreak, the review for this love film was overwhelmingly positive. Many praised the plot for its engaging and enjoyable characteristics. The movie's box office total was around Rs. 4.32 crore.
