Superstar Rajinikanth hosts Y Gee Mahendra's theatre group at his residence

It looks like Superstar Rajinikanth is quite impressed by theatre group United Amateur Artistes’ (UAA) latest play, Charukesi. The actor, who recently watched the play on stage, had gone backstage and appreciated the whole team. The latest we hear is that the actor even invited the entire team at his residence and played host to them. Charukesi is a play inspired by the late writer, dialogue writer and actor Crazy Mohan and premiered last year.

A video montage of Rajinikanth's interaction with the team has been doing the rounds on the internet. United Amateur Artistes is headed by veteran actor and theatre artiste Y Gee Mahendra. The theatre group, was founded by theatre doyen YG Parthasarathy along with his writer, director and actor friend Pattu, in 1952 and since then has come a long way.

On the work front, Superstar Rajinikanth has signed his next with Nelson Dilipkumar of Kolamaavu Kokila and Doctor fame. The shoot for the film, which is titled Jailer and is billed to be an action thriller, likely to begin in August. It is said that Rajinikanth plays an experienced jailer in the film. Music for the film is by Anirudh. 

In the meantime, fans of the Superstar are celebrating 30 Years of Rajinikanth's Annamalai. The film, which hit screens in 1992, went on to become one of the biggest hits of the actor. Annamalai's director Suresh Krissna, recently met Rajinikanth to wish him on the special occasion. The film had Sarathbabu, Khushbu, Manorama, Janagaraj and Radha Ravi as part of the star cast. Music for the film was by Deva and the opening song, 'Vandhen Da Paalkaaran became a chartbuster. The other songs in the album include Annamalai, Annamalai, Kondayil Thaazhampoo, Oru Pen Pura, Rekkai Katti Parakkudhu and Vetri Nichayam. Annamalai was bankrolled by K Balachander's Kavithalaya Productions.
