Superman that is set to release in July 2025 has become one of the most anticipated movies of the year already.
Studio Not Impressed By Superman Trailer?

December is an eventful month in Hollywood because everything happening in terms of movies and promotions seems really exciting. While a lot has already been planned for release, there are also films that want to warm the audience with promotional content even if they are months away from hitting the big screen. One film in the latter department reportedly is Superman, written and directed by James Gunn. Over the last two weeks, the biggest news about the movie has been that we will be getting the first trailer of the movie in mid-December. But now, as per a new report, the cut that the makers submitted to the studio wasn’t approved by the bosses, who didn’t like it much.
Superman, for the unversed, is the beginning of the new dawn of DCU. The first film that James Gunn and Peter Safran announced and started working on was the David Corenswet starrer. So the responsibility on the movie is immense because it reintroduces the DC Cinematic Universe to the world. Now, as per writer/filmmaker Dan Marcus, a fairly finalized trailer was sent to the bosses, but they have advised making it better. However, this is a common practice as a lot of trailer cuts are made before the final one is chosen.
Marcus on X wrote, “I'm really excited for the SUPERMAN trailer. From everything I've heard, there is enormous pressure internally from inside Warner Bros. for the trailer to be received well. Apparently the studio asked for multiple different cuts of the trailer to find the best version. To clarify, since every trailer necessitates multiple cuts, apparently the editor cutting the trailer presented a fairly finalized version to the studio weeks ago. The studio wasn't happy and said ‘Make it better.’ I wouldn't want to be a part of the marketing department over there right now, which was recently gutted.”
Superman will not serve as another origin story for Clark Kent. The movie finds a young Clark Kent (aka Kal-El) and shows how he is trying to balance his Kryptonian heritage and normal life as an up-and-coming reporter at The Daily Planet. He lives in Smallville, Kansas, with his adoptive family. The film will have Lex Luthor as the villain, played by Nicholas Hoult, who has a very major presence as per James Gunn.
The initial logline for the movie read, "Superman, a cub reporter in Metropolis, embarks on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent." Superman is set to hit the big screen on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
