Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 beats Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 advance booking within 30 minutes

Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel’s iconic film Gadar’s second installment is up for release within a week. The viewers are pretty excited about the movie. This is after the promos and songs from the film have received a lot of love. One example of that is how the makers retained the essence of the iconic song Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava from the original film.

Now, according to a report on Box Office India, the movie has received a phenomenal response at the advance Box Office opening. The movie opened better than Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2. More so, it took 30 minutes for Gadar 2 to leave an impact.

The film has succeeded 10,000 bookings towards the end of Friday. While OMG 2 had a decent advance opening, Gadar 2 is making the waves.

Thanks to the response already, it appears that the craze of Hindi films might just be back. Earlier in the year, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan set a benchmark and the early response could indicate that Gadar 2, which releases towards the mid-year, might just be next in line.

The original film, Gadar, released in 2001. The movie brought immense limelight on Sunny Deol, especially thanks to his handpump scene. His dialogue is narrated by popular personalities even today.

Set in the partition era, the film had become iconic. It was the love story between Sakeena and Tara Singh. Ameesha Patel, who played the lead role in the film, is back in Gadar 2 too.

The film also brings child artist Utkarsh Sharma (director Anil Sharma’s son) back. He plays Sakeena and Tara Singh’s son, Jeete.
