Congratulations and celebrations! Sunil Chhetri, the captain of the Indian men’s national football team, and his wife, Sonam Bhattacharya, announced in a statement today that they have been blessed with a baby boy.

According to news portal ABP news, Sonam Bhattacharya gave birth to a baby boy on August 30 in a hospital in Bengaluru. It is reported that both the newborn and the mother are in good health. Interestingly, the couple has not shared the news development on their social media handles yet.

News portal HT City also reported about the development. “Sunil Chhetri, the captain of the Indian men’s national football team, and his wife, Sonam Bhattacharya, have been blessed with a baby boy @chetri_sunil11,” wrote the news portal on Instagram today.

In June this year, Sunil Chhetri publicly announced that his wife is pregnant with his first child at the Intercontinental Cup. "Me and my wife are expecting a baby, this is how she wanted me to announce - it's for her and the baby. I just hope we get all the blessings and best wishes," he shared in a press statement.
