Suniel Shetty to make his Tulu film debut? Netizens are convinced he’s working with Coastalwood hitmaker

Bigg Boss Kannada Season 9 winner, actor-filmmaker Roopesh Shetty is currently busy with the shoot of his third Tulu directorial venture, Jai. The film, which is nearly complete, with the final schedule to commence shortly, will feature a star cameo, which Roopesh is looking at announcing officially on January 12. Ahead of this update, though, Roopesh posted a video on social media about a super star coming to work in a Tulu film, urging fans to figure out who it could be.

Sudeep or Suniel Shetty in Roopesh Shetty's Jai?

The initial speculation was that Roopesh had convinced Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep to do a role in his film, but then the tide turned, with many saying that he’s got none other than Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty to finally ‘head home’ and debut in Tulu cinema. A couple of months ago, Roopesh had posted a picture of his meeting with Suniel, and netizens are convinced that the latter will join the next schedule of Jai.

Roopesh and Suniel have known each other for a while. In fact, after the release of Roopesh’s directorial debut Girgit, which was a massive hit for Coastalwood standards, Suniel had posted a video message congratulating the actor-filmmaker on the success. “Very proud and happy that Tulu cinema is doing well… Thank you for helping Tulunadu and Tulu cinema with your talent, direction and acting,” the Bollywood star had said.

Suniel, who debuted in Kannada cinema in 2019 with Kiccha Sudeep’s Pailwaan, has been vocal about wanting to do a Tulu film, but that the project would have to align with his ideals. For instance, in the past, he has said that he’d do a Tulu film if the proceeds would go towards a cause, like education of underprivileged children. He was also keen to work with his Bollywood pals with Mangaluru roots, Aishwarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty or Rohit Shetty in a Tulu movie.
