Thurthu Nirgamana, directed by Hemanth Kumar and produced by Kumar & Kumar Films, was meant to release in February 2020. But then news of a pandemic began spreading, forcing the team to reconsider their plans. In the two years since, the team has steadfastly refused to consider a straight-to-OTT release, preferring a theatrical outing instead. Last week, the team, led by hero Suneel Rao, announced that they’d finally zeroed in on a release window. Thurthu Nirgamana will hit theatres on June 24, with promotions to begin with its trailer launch. Although the team had earlier released a teaser, which gives audiences an idea about the subject of the film, Suneel has now posted on social media that promotions will begin full-fledged with the trailer launch on June 2.
The film, which also stars Achyuth Kumar, Sudharani, Raj B Shetty, Samyuktha Hegde and Hitha Chandrashekar in pivotal roles, is a fantasy flick that follows the story of the protagonist played by Suneel, who passes away and is then allowed to return to three days prior to his demise. How he deals with this situation and what he decides to do differently in this second chance is the crux of the narrative. Suneel has been quoted as saying that he took up the project because of its wacky subject, in which he plays Vikram, a laidback guy who does not value time and life, until his death. How he then realizes the value of time and interpersonal relationships is what Thurthu Nirgamana, which literally translates to Emergency Exit, is all about.
Thurthu Nirgamana is, right now, one of three films that are eyeing the June 24 weekend. There’s also Kannadathi fame Kiran Raj’s Buddies, as well as Vikram Ravichandran’s launchpad Trivikrama. Rishab Shetty’s next, Harikatha Alla Girikathe will also be in theatres around that time, having announced June 23 as of now.
