Indian films are having a big time at the Sundance Film Festival. Two Indian films bagged several awardSundance Film Festival: Preeti Panigrahi and others get global nods at the festival. The awards were given in the Ray Theatre of Park City, Utah, on Friday. The film Girls Will Be Girls and the documentary Nocturnes were awarded there.

Girls Will be Girls won the audience prize in the World Cinema Dramatic category. Preeti Panigrahi won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award. The film tells the story of the relationship between 16-year-old Meera (Preeti) and her mother Anila (Kani Kusruti). It takes place in a boarding school in the Himalayas. This is the production debut of Richa Chadda and Ali Fazal.

Nocturnes was made by Anirban Dutta and Anupama Srinivasan. It won the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award For Craft. The documentary tells the story of a scientist and a resident of Himachal. The scientist observed and documented a giant moth's life for several months.

Indian documentaries won awards in the festival for consecutive four years. Impact For Change won the Audience Award and the Special Jury Award in 2021. All That Breathes won the Grand Jury Award in 2022. Last year, Against The Tide won a Special Jury Award.
