Sumathi Valavu: Arjun Ashokan’s horror drama has a connection with Vishnu Vishal’s Ratsasan

The makers of the upcoming Malayalam film, Sumathi Valavu, have dropped a major update about its crew today (July 23). It has been confirmed that P V Shankar, cinematographer of Tamil film, Ratsasan, starring Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul, will helm the camera work for the project.

The main actors in this film, which is rumoured to include horror elements, are Saiju Kurup and Arjun Ashokan. The makers of Malikappuram revealed the project's name, Sumathi Valavu, at a May event in Kochi. In the upcoming days, more information about the work should become available.

It is also believed that the movie is partially based on the true account of Sumathi Valavu, the infamous spot in Trivandrum. Starring in the supporting roles are Devanandha, who is well-known from Malikappuram, Sreepathyan, Malavika Manoj, Shyam Mohan, Niranj Maniyanpillai, Jean Lal, and Gopika Anil. The movie is slated for release by the end of this year.

This movie, which is being directed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar and is being produced by Waterman Films LLP with financial backing from Murali Kunnumpurath. For the film, Abhilash Pillai wrote the screenplay. Ranjin Raj is composing the film's songs and original score.

Arjun Ashokan’s upcoming films

Arjun Ashokan had a terrific start in 2024 with Abraham Ozler and Bramayugam. His most recent release was Once Upon A Time In Kochi, directed by Nadirshah. This year, the actor has two more films slated for release: Anand Sreebala and Bromance.

It is said that Anand Sreebala is a captivating investigative thriller. The most recent posters further state that the movie is based on true events. Dhyan Sreenivasan and Saiju Kurup are also contributing significantly to this project. It is logical to assume that the movie will make its big-screen premiere in August or September. In Bromance, Arjun Ashokan will co-star with Mahima Nambiar and Mathew Thomas as the lead actors. It is claimed that the film is a complete comedy entertainer.
