Sudhanshu Rai’s horror-comedy Chaipatti is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar

Several Bollywood filmmakers have recently begun dabbling in the genre of horror-comedy. After the success of Amar Kaushik's Stree, storyteller Sudhanshu Rai has now ventured into this genre with his short film Chaipatti, which can now be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.

Chaipatti was released on the occasion of Holi on YouTube and quickly became a favourite among fans of the genre.

The plot of Chaipatti follows three friends who perform a ceremony to call forth a ghost with a book. The film has humour intertwined with scares. This short film stars Abhishek Sonpaliya and Shobhit Sujay with Sudhanshu Rai.

When asked about his experience of working on Chaipatti by News18, Rai revealed that the short film is a stepping stone for bigger projects in the future.

“Chaipatti has been an amazing experience for us, as we succeeded in capturing the essence of the horror-comedy genre in a short duration of 10 minutes. The response has been very encouraging and many viewers are demanding a sequel," said Rai.

Sujay, meanwhile, thanked its writers for the role. “Working in Chaipatti has been a great learning experience for me. Thanks to the story and dialogues penned by Sudhanshu and Puneet Sharma, I was able to perform with confidence. We are very glad that the performance of all actors, and moreover the concept, is being loved by the audience," stated the actor.

The film's background score is by Karan Aneja and Lazer X. Chaipatti can be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.
