In the last few days, social media has been abuzz with a Sudeep-Yash fan war that was sparked by comments about Kannada stars like Sudeep and Darshan not congratulating the team of KGF: Chapter 2, like the rest of the rest of the world. This, of course, was countered by Sudeep fans who highlighted the fact that the actor, who is quite active on Twitter, had tweeted about Yash’s Santhu Straight Forward and KGF: Chapter 1, but got no response to it.

Sudeep was the chief guest at the trailer launch of Navarasa Nayaka Jaggesh’s Thotapuri, at a time when this fan war continues to rage online. Addressing this issue in his own style, Jaggesh said, “Very happy that Sudeep came to launch the trailer of my film, Thotapuri. He is an actor who has really strange luck. Back in the day, when Premier Padmini came out, he had seen it and written a long congratulatory note to the team on social media, which gave the film an extra boost of energy. A few days ago, when the team of Thotapuri began planning the trailer launch, the producer (KA Suresh) had asked me if I could get any politicians to grace the occasion. But as you all know, everyone’s quite busy these days and I couldn’t get anyone, so I asked him who he was trying to get as guest and he said Sudeep would be there. I was pleasantly surprised and very happy when I heard that.”

The Navarasa Nayaka added, “Sudeep is the first one from our industry to put Kannada films in the spotlight and bring it national attention. At a time when all of us dreamt of catching a glimpse of Amitabh Bachchan, he stood right next to him and did a film with him. He is the first Kannadiga to do that and has several other firsts to his credit. Also, to be able to act with an imaginary co-star (Eega) and pull it off convincingly, one has to be a true Navarasa Nayaka. And he won on that front too, working with a director (SS Rajamouli), who, today is a big name in India. Sudeep has been at the forefront of taking Kannada cinema to the next level and projecting it well across India for quite a while. The fact that he has taken time out to attend the trailer launch of my film is a noteworthy gesture. Sudeep is a self-made man, who has worked his way up without anyone’s support and with his fair share of struggles along the way, which is what I like about him. Today, he has reached a certain stature, and is getting praise from several corners, but his journey is truly awe-inspiring.”
