Suchitra Krishnamoorthi reveals her shocking casting couch experience with a reputed filmmaker: 'We were meeting in a hotel and...'

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, who made her Bollywoo d debut with Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa in 1994, has opened up about her casting couch experience with a famous producer-director. The actress said that she was asked to spend the night with him in his hotel room and she ran away from there.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Suchitra shared the incident and said that it happened when she was meeting the filmmaker in his hotel room for a project. She said that such meetings were very common back in the day and she did not suspect anything wrong.

She recalled, “He asked me, ‘Who are you close to, mom or dad?’ I said, ‘I am very close to my father.' He said, ‘Very nice, then call your father and tell him that I will you drop you back home tomorrow morning.'”

Suchitra said that she was shocked and confused by his statement and did not understand what he meant at first. She said, “It takes you a while to process. Then I was like it’s 4-5 pm right now. What am I going to do with him till tomorrow morning? Then it started striking me what he is probably intending. But this used to happen a lot.”

She added that she was on the verge of tears and quickly picked up her stuff and ran away from there. She said that such kinds of things were very common in the industry and many actresses had faced similar situations.

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi was last seen in the web series The Verdict - State vs Nanavati in 2019. She was previously married to filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and has a daughter named Kaveri with him.
