One look at social media and you would find everybody hop, skip and jump on the latest trend - asking Ai to turn everything into Ghibli style. However, there was a time when Studio Ghibli founder Hayao Miyazaki had spoken about Ai. He is 'utterly disgusted' with everything the artificial intelligence has to offer. His response is now going viral.

Back when Ai was just catching up, the Studio Ghibli founder Hayao Miyazaki had shared his views on Ai. "I am utterly disgusted. I would never wish to incorporate this technology into my work at all. I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself," the founder had strongly stated about the use of Ai. Today, his company’s work has been turned into Ai and is going viral on the internet.
Studio Ghibli is among the top Japanese animation studios based in Tokyo. They have produced some of the best works and are most recognized for the character of Totoro from their popular 1998 film, My Neighbour Totoro. The logo of Studio Ghibli, in fact, is Totoro itself. This logo is a breed between raccoon dog and cat. Over the years, Studio Ghibli produced some classics like Spirited Away (2001) and The Boy and The Heron (2023).
Studio Ghibli specializes in hand-drawn characters using acrylic paints. It still believes in using watercolour combination that grabs eyeballs. That is what sets the studio apart from others. It is also to be noted that Europe, particularly, serves inspiration when it comes to locations used in Studio Ghibli movies.
More recently, Sam Altman of OpenAi has asked people to 'chill out' on the Ghibli trend. He requested that his team needs to sleep and the weird requests pouring in to turn everything into Ghibli style has forced them into overdrive. He also confessed that the servers too are struggling with the overwhelming requests from across the globe.
So, do you think it is time to put an end to the Ghibli trend? Do let us know your views.
