Karan Johar's Student of the Year is one of the most loved Bollywood movies of all time. With this film, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra made their acting debut. The high-school drama was successful at the box office. Today, October 19, SOTY has completed 12 years since its theatrical release. On this occasion, Varun posted a special video while Sidharth shared a heartwarming note and Alia expressed her gratitude.

A while ago, Sidharth Malhotra took to his Instagram and shared a fan made video of him. Sharing it, he wrote, "12 amazing years of your love and support! Thank ypu for being with me on this journey. Here's to keeping the good time rolling and entertaining you all! Big love and hug!

On the other hand, Varun Dhawan also took to his Instagram Story and shared a video of himself inside a car where he can be heard expressing his gratitude while Ishq Wala Love from Student of the Year was playing.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt shared several fan edits which were made on the movie and reflected her Bollywood journey for 12 years.
Karan Johar shares unseen pics with Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan
As his movie turned 12, Karan Johar shared a special post on his Instagram account. The filmmaker posted unseen pictures with the star cast from the SOTY set.
While sharing the pictures, Karan captioned his Instagram post, "Let’s start with...there’s something about ‘today’, something very special!!! 12 years and I look back at the film I embarked on, solely to have the best time of my life. And best time, it was! (sic)."
Meanwhile, in Student of the Year, Alia Bhatt played the role of Shanaya while Sidharth Malhotra was seen as Abhimanyu. As for Varun Dhawan, he played the character of Rohan in the film. The star cast of SOTY also included the late Rishi Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Ram Kapoor, Sana Saeed, Sahil Anand, and Farida Jalal among many others.
Karan Johar gives an update on Student of the Year 3
At the Cinevesture International Film Festival in Chandigarh, KJo spilled details about Student of the Year 3.
He said, “Reema Maya will be directing the digital version of Student of the Year. But it will be her way and definitely not mine because if I’ll enter Reema Maya’s world, then I will make it more of an illusion, which is what her name means. I just wanted it to be her voice. She made it her own series.”
Meanwhile, the filmmakers are yet to make an official announcement about the web series, and reveal rest of the cast and crew. Student of the Year was released in 2012 while the second instalment was released in 2019.
