It has become the world of Stree, and we are just living in it. The movie that kickstarted the franchise has been one of the most lucrative intellectual properties (IPs) for the makers, who have now released Stree 2, which is causing a stir at the box office. Stree 2 has become a cultural and cinematic phenomenon, not only breaking records but also establishing itself among the top 10 highest-earning Bollywood movies. There are many reasons for the makers to celebrate, and now there is one more: the original Stree film has turned six years old, marking six years of the Maddock Supernatural Universe as well. The celebration doubles up, and here we are, telling you how you can celebrate it with the world.
Stree Turns 6
Stree, released back in 2018, turned out to be a box office success with its Rs 180 crore collection. The movie starred Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi, alongside Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. While the sequel is directed by Amar Kaushik, the first film was directed by Raj & DK. The movie is about a ghostly woman who haunts a village, making life scary for the men. The messaging of the movie was much deeper and blended well with the comedy.
The best way to celebrate the sixth anniversary of the movie is to watch it again. Sorting out your weekend watch plan, Stree is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar in India. You can also watch the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer on Apple TV, where it is available for rent. However, if you want to watch the sequel and the first part back to back on streaming, you'll have to wait, as Stree 2 is not releasing on any streaming platform anytime soon due to its strong hold on the big screen.
Stree 2 Box Office
On the 16th day of its theatrical run, Stree 2 has managed to remain consistent with its box office collection. According to Sacnilk, the movie earned Rs 7.75 crore as per early estimates. This brings the total collection of the movie to Rs 440.80 crore. This means that if the movie manages to pull off another good weekend, it may cross the Rs 450 crore mark today. In this way, the movie is now on its journey toward the glorious Rs 500 crore milestone.
Is Stree 3 Possible?
In an interview with Zoom, writer Niren Bhatt spoke about the possibility of Stree 3 and the spin-offs they are planning from this universe. Niren Bhatt said, “Yes, we will explore the story of Shraddha Kapoor as Stree’s daughter, and that’s why we didn’t reveal her name. We are planning quite far ahead, but unfortunately, I won’t be able to reveal what’s cooking at Maddock Films. All I can tell you now is that all the characters in our films, be it Stree, Bhediya, or Munja, are very dear to us. We are thinking of expanding their stories. I don’t know how, when, and in which films they will come, but they will come.”
