After a six-year wait, Stree 2 will be coming to theatres near you in just a few hours. The Amar Kaushik-directed and Niren Bhatt-written film is titled Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles. The OTT partner for the comedy-horror film has been revealed, and it will stream on Prime Video following its theatrical run. The sequel to Stree (2018) and the fifth instalment in the Maddock Supernatural Universe, the supporting cast includes Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee. The movie will premiere in theatres on August 15, 2024, with a paid preview beginning on August 14, 2024, at 9:30 pm.
Following the events of Stree, Chanderi undergoes torment once more in the sequel. This time, a terrible, headless creature abducts women for unknown reasons. Their town and loved ones are once again in danger, and Bicky (Rao) and his buddies must act quickly to rescue them.
Meanwhile, visual cuts were not required for Stree 2 by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Nevertheless, the board asked for two changes to the audio: first, to silence a national monument, and second, to remove the name of a celebrity. Thanks to these modifications, the film now has a length of 149 minutes and a U/A rating.
Speaking about Stree 2, Dinesh Vijan at the trailer launch compared it to mothership. Stree 2 addresses many of the concerns raised in the first instalment. Additionally, it provides information on the connections.
Talking about the Maddock horror-comedy universe, the producer went on to say that what follows Stree 2 is a film called Thama, which they will announce soon. They have already drafted the third instalment. Thus, there would be a smaller space between Stree 2 and Stree 3.
Vijan also said that one thing he can tell about Stree 2 is that it is bigger, madder, and crazier. The trailer hardly scratches the surface. The film has a lot of special effects that viewers will experience on the big screen.
He shared that it is Maddock's most paisa vasool film. Vijan is confident that the film will be a hit when it opens in theatres. Since they had fun making it, they hope the audience does too.
Stree was the Maddock Supernatural Universe's explosive debut film. It was one of 2018's most successful films, directed by Amar Kaushik. The following year, in 2021, Rajkummar and Janhvi were the stars of Roohi. Then there was Bhediya (2022), which featured Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. This series also included Munjya, the year's surprise smash hit. Varun made a thrilling cameo appearance in Bhediya's role.
