Stree 2 finally managed to cross Rs. 500 crore mark at the Box Office, thus proving it could be on its way to becoming the highest grossing film of the year. The movie, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, however, did face major comparisons. Right when Stree 2's poster was released, it was compared to Stranger Things 2 poster. After the film was released, the climax scene was said to be loosely based on Stranger Things as well as Harry Potter. Director Amar Kaushik has now spoken on both claims. Here's what he said...
Amar Kaushik told India Today that the team did not realize the similarities between Stranger Things 2 poster and Stree 2 poster. After they liked the posters presented to them, they kept it. It was later when netizens pointed it out that the team realized the similarities. "The intention was not to copy. It was co-incidental. Had I known I would have avoided it," he said.
Amar pointed out that Stree 2 climax came from a deep cultural root. "Vicky having to show his goodness to remove the sword was a very natural move for us," he said, explaining that even in the original film, it was the innocence in Vicky's eyes which helped him fight Stree. "Technically, Raj (Rajkummar Rao) has no superpower in this movie. His kindness and innocence are his superpowers. That was the idea," the director shared.
Amar has not yet watched Harry Potter, so he isn't certain if any scene is similar. However, he did share that his team, who are avid followers of the franchise, kept advising him if the film is even remotely close to that world. And just like that, Stree 2 climax scene came into being.
Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and Stree’s daughter (played by Shraddha Kapoor) go to Sarkata’s den to rescue all the women he has captured. There, Sarkata tried to take away Stree’s daughter’s soul, and hers is connected to every other woman present there. Seeing it all unfold, Vicky rescues Stree’s daughter and fights Sarkata alongside her. He has to take out the sword stuck in rocks, with which Sarkata’s head was chopped off. However, Sarkata is too powerful for them to fight alone. Thus, Stree’s daughter calls upon her mother. With Stree taking care of Sarkata, Vicky manages to take out the sword and kill Sarkata, but there was another surprise, which came in the form of Akshay Kumar. This set the tone for Stree 3.
