The fifteen-episode sixth season of Cobra Kai, sometimes called Cobra Kai VI, will debut on Netflix soon. Unlike previous seasons, the sixth season will comprise three parts, each comprising five episodes, with the first part set to premiere on July 18, 2024. The show chronicles the adventures of Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso, tracing the events of the first Karate Kid film from over three decades ago.

Robert Mark Kamen and John G. Avildsen collaborated on the 1984 martial arts drama The Karate Kid. Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Elisabeth Shue, and William Zabka star in the first film of the Karate Kid series. Macchio plays the role of adolescent Italian-American Daniel LaRusso, who leaves his mother's side after she dies and moves to the Los Angeles district of Reseda in The Karate Kid. Johnny Lawrence (Zabka), who was once in a relationship with LaRusso's love interest, Ali Mills (Shue), is one of the new bullies that LaRusso faces there. Mr. Miyagi (Morita), a handyman and war veteran, teaches LaRusso karate so that he can fight off his bullies and win karate tournaments.

The Karate Kid Part II (ZEE5 [on rent; OTTplay Premium] and Prime Video [on rent])
Robert Mark Kamen and John G. Avildsen collaborated on the screenplay for the 1986 martial arts drama film The Karate Kid Part II. Starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita, it is the sequel to the 1984 film The Karate Kid and the second installment in the Karate Kid franchise. In Part II of The Karate Kid, Macchio plays Daniel LaRusso, who goes to visit his ailing father in Okinawa with his karate teacher, Mr. Miyagi (Morita). However, on their way, they run into an old adversary who has a long-simmering animosity against Miyagi.
The Karate Kid Part III (ZEE5 [on rent; OTTplay Premium])
The martial arts drama film The Karate Kid Part III, the third installment in the Karate Kid series and a sequel to The Karate Kid Part II (1986), premiered in 1989. Thomas Ian Griffith makes his film debut, and it features Robyn Lively, Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, and himself. John G. Avildsen directed, Robert Mark Kamen wrote, Pat E. Johnson choreographed stunts, and Bill Conti scored the score, as was the case with the first two films in the series. The film follows the return of John Kreese as he and his best friend Terry Silver recruit a vicious martial artist to hurt Daniel and Mr. Miyagi's relationship in an effort to exact retribution.
The Next Karate Kid (Prime Video [on rent])
Written by Mark Lee and produced by Jerry Weintraub, Christopher Cain helmed the martial arts drama film The Next Karate Kid in 1994. It follows 1989's The Karate Kid Part III and is the fourth installment in the Karate Kid franchise. With Constance Towers, Chris Conrad, Michael Cavalieri, Walton Goggins, and Michael Ironside rounding out the cast, it marks Hilary Swank's theatrical debut as Julie Pierce and features Pat Morita, who reprises his role as Mr. Miyagi from the first three films. Bill Conti, who had scored the first three films, once again provided the score for the fourth film. In this installment, Ralph Macchio does not play the lead character of Daniel LaRusso, marking the first time this has happened in the series.
Cobra Kai (Netflix)
Robert Mark Kamen's Cobra Kai is a martial arts comedy-drama TV series that follows on from the Karate Kid movie. Sony Pictures Television distributes the productions that Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg developed. After two seasons on YouTube Red and YouTube Premium, the show switched to Netflix for season three. William Zabka (as Johnny Lawrence) and Ralph Macchio (as Daniel LaRusso) return from their roles in the 1984 film The Karate Kid and its sequels, Part II (1986) and Part III (1989), respectively, to feature in the series.
Starting with Johnny's decision to reopen the Cobra Kai karate dojo and reigniting his old animosity with Daniel, Cobra Kai re-examines the Karate Kid storyline from Johnny's perspective. Martin Kove, Yuji Okumoto, Thomas Ian Griffith, and Sean Kanan are all returning from the movies, and the series features Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni DeCenzo, Peyton List, Vanessa Rubio, and Dallas Dupree Young, among others. The events in the series take place from 2017 to 2019.
