Silambarasan TR, the talented actor, is now completely immersed in his acting career, with some promising projects in the pipeline. As reported earlier, Simbu is set to be a part of some very exciting projects in the Tamil film industry. The actor-director has teamed up with young filmmaker Desingh Periyasamy for his 48th outing in cinema. The duo’s upcoming project is touted to be a period action film is bankrolled by legendary actor Kamal Haasan under the prestigious banner Raaj Kamal Films International.

The recently released first look poster of project, which has been tentatively titled STR 48, suggested that Silambarasan is set to play a double role in the film. Now, sources close to the project have revealed that Simbu is indeed playing multiple roles in the film, as both a hero and a villain.

Silambarasan to play both hero and villain?

According to recent updates by the Valai Pechu YouTube channel, Silambarasan TR is set to play a double role in the upcoming Desingh Periyasamy directorial. However, the actor’s double role is quite different from his previous characters, as he is set to play both the hero and villain in the film. If the reports are to be believed, one of the characters played by Simbu in the film is the protagonist, while the second character is a cold-blooded villain.

Simbu to have a third character in STR 48?

However, the reports also suggest that Silambarasan will appear as one more character in the film, and it is going to be the most challenging part. According to the grapevine, the third character played by the actor is a transgender. This ‘Thirunangai’ character will have less screen time in the first part of STR 48, which is being planned as a franchise. But this character is expected to have more screen space in Part 2.

As you might have guessed, the makers of STR 48 have not reacted to any of these reports yet. The team is now busy finalising the lead actresses of the project, which will have two female protagonists. If things go as planned, the untitled project is expected to go on floors by the end of February 2024.
