STR 48 budget revealed: Silambarasan’s next to be made on a massive scale?

Silambarasan TR is busy in his acting career, with some promising projects in the pipeline. The actor is teaming up with director Desingh Periyasamy for his upcoming 48th outing in cinema, which has been tentatively titled STR 48. The project, which was originally expected to go on floors in February 2024, has been delayed indefinitely due to technical reasons. However, the sources close to the project suggest that STR 48 is very much on the cards, and is being made with a whopping budget of Rs. 100 crore.

STR 48 budget is revealed

According to the recent updates by the Valaipechu YouTube channel, STR 48 is being made as the most expensive project in the career of its leading man, Silambarasan TR. The updates by the new Valaipechu episode suggests that the Desingh Periyasamy directorial is being made on a massive scale, with a whopping budget of around Rs. 100 crore. However, both Silambu and director Desingh have not officially confirmed these reports, yet.

As reported earlier, Kamal Haasan, the legendary actor was supposed to produce the untitled project of Silambarasan and Desingh Periyasamy, under his home banner Raaj Kamal Films International. However, it was later reported that RKFI backed out of the project, citing financial issues. Even though both Simbu and director Desingh were in talks with a couple of other famous production banners, nothing materialised. If the recent updates are to be believed, the leading man is planning to bankroll the film himself, under his home banner Atman Productions.

STR 48: Here’s what we know

Silambarasan TR is reportedly set to play a triple role in the upcoming Desingh Periyasamy directorial, as both the protagonist and the antagonist. Interestingly, the actor is also said to be appearing in the role of a transperson in the film. Popular actresses from the South film industry and Bollywood, including Keerthy Suresh, Pooja Hegde and Janhvi Kapoor, are rumoured to be in talks to play the female lead opposite Simbu in the film. Devi Sri Prasad is set to compose the music score. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to finalised.
