Stags OTT release date in India: Here's when and where you can stream British series

British television series Stags is all set to premiere in India. The series will be available for streaming on SonyLIV (OTTplay Premium) starting on December 20, 2024. Daniel Cullen conceived and wrote the series, which comprises six parts. David Kerr is the head of Eleven Film, which is producing it for Paramount+.

Plot overview

The plot centers around Stu, the soon-to-be groom, and his friends as they embark on a stag party in South America. The group's week of drugs, alcohol, and fun takes a sinister turn when two drug-dealing siblings place them on a notoriously corrupt prison island instead of taking them home on a plane. Each stag must choose a side to ensure their survival, and they begin to speculate about who will make it back home safely. Stu and his friends confront their personal issues and navigate the harsh and chaotic prison, challenging their friendships and relinquishing lifetime allegiance.

Members of Stu's inner circle, including Hugo (Paul Forman), a boyhood friend of Stu's, Greg (Asim Choudhry), and Stu's coworkers, begin to feel the strain of prison life shortly.

A stellar ensemble cast, featuring Nico Mirallegro (Stu), Charlie Cooper (Corin Silva), and Asim Choudhry, has contributed to the series' generally favourable reviews.

Genre and themes

A thrilling adventure is how Nico describes the show. It resembles a mashup of several genres, combining elements from shows like The Hangover, Breaking Bad, Squid Game, and Midnight Express. Stu wants to fix everything wrong and seems like a decent guy on the outside, but he's secretly struggling with feelings of self-sabotage and neglect. Despite the fact that he interacts differently with each of his buddies, there is tension beneath the surface.

Similar to Stu's and his friends' initial shock at seeing the prison island, the group felt the same way when they arrived at a remote Tenerife location for filming.

Nico explained that they initially aimed to create a truly fulfilling experience. However, after two weeks, they decided to go ahead and organize a mock stag do, which resulted in an amazing party!
