SS Rajamouli-Mahesh Babu film's 'secret' launch ruffles feathers, but RRR filmmaker has a good reason for it

SS Rajamouli is a master technician known for making grand films. He is now ready with his new movie, starring Mahesh Babu in the lead role. Rajamouli is famous for launching his films on a grand scale and arranging press interactions. However, that did not happen yesterday, as his film SSMB29 was launched in a very simple manner without any media presence. 

Here's why SSMB29 launch was a low-key affair

Occasionally, the media is excluded from launches but later informed through a press note or event photos. This time, not even a single photo from the launch was released, creating more intrigue around the project. Fans, however, were slightly disappointed by the lack of updates.

According to sources in the film industry, there is a reason behind this secrecy. A source close to the team revealed that Mahesh Babu's striking new look for the film was the reason the makers avoided media exposure. They wanted to keep his appearance under wraps.

Rajamouli planning a special launch to reveal Mahesh Babu's first look

The source further mentioned that Rajamouli is planning a special event to formally introduce Mahesh Babu’s look to the media. This will likely coincide with the release of the film’s title, along with a promotional poster showcasing Mahesh Babu’s new avatar.

Since the film is being produced on an international scale, Rajamouli is maintaining strict secrecy around the project. As per the latest updates, SSMB29 is scheduled to begin filming in June 2025. Pre-production is progressing rapidly, and it has already been reported that a significant portion of the shoot will take place in Kenya, with additional scenes filmed at Borra Caves in Vizag.

The movie is being produced by K.L. Narayana under his Durga Arts banner, with a budget of approximately Rs 1000 crore. MM Keeravani will compose the music for this globe-trotting adventure thriller. Additionally, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran are in talks for key roles.
