In October last year, shortly after the state government allowed 100% occupancy in theatres, Darling Krishna, who was riding a career high wave after the success of his debut directorial Love Mocktail, had a release. The actor’s srikrishna@gmail.com, one of the many projects he signed up soon after Love Mocktail, hit theatres along with Salaga and Kotigobba 3.
If a clash at the box office with a much-anticipated biggie is bad, doing so with two is even worse, especially if the relatively smaller film has also done zilch promotions in the run-up to its release. Krishna’s film, directed by Sanju weds Geetha maker Nagashekar, came out on October 15, which pretty much no one knew about. The film, which paired the actor with Bhavana, not only got unfavourable critic reviews, but also sank without a trace at the box office, shortly after.
The film is now coming to OTT and you could catch it there for a couple of reasons. For starters, the film had a promising subject, which, unfortunately, Nagashekhar floundered along the way. srikrishna@gmail.com follows Sathya (Krishna) a waiter at a five-star hotel, and his encounter with Malavika (Bhavana) a single mother, whose young daughter takes a liking to the former, to the extent of even calling him ‘papa’.
For reasons you will know if you watch the film, Malavika decides to get Sathya to play along by doling out tips amounting to thousands, an opportunity he happily laps up to take care of family responsibilities. But as the days go by, Sathya uncovers the truth about Malavika and why she’s single and tries to set things right. Does he succeed in this mission? Find out when the film drops on SunNXT on March 21.
