Sridevi Shoban Babu OTT release date: When and where to watch Santosh Soban, Gouri Kishan’s film

Costume designer and daughter of noted star Chiranjeevi, Sushmita Konidela, the founder of Gold Box Entertainments, turned a producer with ZEE5’s web show Shootout at Alair that earned critical acclaim and followed it up with another impressive web film for aha, Senapathi headlined by Rajendra Prasad. Her latest endeavour is a theatrical release, Sridevi Shoban Babu, a family drama.

Sridevi Shoban Babu, whose shoot was wrapped up many months earlier, was awaiting a release in theatres for long and made it to screens worldwide this weekend on February 18. Santosh Shoban and Gouri Kishan played the lead roles in the film that also starred Rohini Molleti, Naga Babu, Moin and others as well. Kamran, who had worked on Hrudaya Kaleyam earlier, composed the music.

The film unfolds through the eyes of Sridevi (Gouri), an aspirant costume designer and a pampered daughter who’s not afraid to speak her heart out. When she voices her interest to visit Araku to seek creative inspiration for her next design, she faces resistance from her father (Naga babu). She tricks him and leaves for Araku but there’s more to the trip than meets the eye. She bumps into her cousin Shoban unexpectedly. Will their romance withstand many roadblocks?

First-time filmmaker Prasanth Kumar Dimmala helmed the family drama, which received many negative reviews upon release. Several critics opined that it wasn’t fair to use the names of legends like Sridevi and Shoban Babu for a tepid script. Meanwhile, Disney+ Hotstar has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film. The streamer is expected to premiere the film in the first half of March.

Siddarth Ramaswamy cranked the camera for the drama while it was edited by Shashidhar Reddy. Dattatreya is the art director and Sushmita Konidela is the costume designer respectively. Polaki Vijay choreographed the dance sequences and Saranya Potla is the executive producer.
