Squid Game, the Netflix Korean show that achieved global recognition upon its release, has now made history at the SAG Awards 2022. The ceremony took place on February 27 at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. 

The series won Outstanding Action Performance as a Stunt Ensemble; Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for Lee Jung-Jae; and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for Jung Ho-yeon.

Squid Game was also nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, which was won by HBO family drama series Succession, led by big names like Jeremy Strong and Brian Cox. 

The SAG Awards are presented by the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. According to The Associated Press, it is the first televised, in-person award show after the Golden Globes which was a small-scale private event due to pandemic restrictions.

Squid Game, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, has been renewed for a second season on Netflix. Season 1 followed Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), as he enters a competition to play games at the promise of a handsome sum of money. The competition of six children's games soon turns into a horror show with death as the penalty for failure.
