If there is one show that has all our attention at this point, it has to be Squid Game Season 2 because it is the next massive international title that hits Netflix this year. With Lee Jung-jae reprising Player Number 456, aka Seong Gi-hun, the second season of the much-loved dark show is easily the most anticipated across the globe. The trailer for the awaited show has finally hit the internet, and the makers have given us a detailed look into the world that returns with more risks and, of course, amped-up drama. However, the trailer has also given rise to a new theory that leaves us even more surprised because, if true, we might witness one of the most iconic partnerships in the world of Squid Game.

Squid Game 2 Theory

In case you do not remember, a fan-favorite character met a very tragic fate. It was none other than Hwang Jun-ho, who is technically The Front Man’s brother. However, the trailer for Squid Game 2 confirms that he has somehow miraculously survived the attack from Front Man. But how is the question, considering he was shot. A viral theory from Show Snob suggests that Hwang Jun-ho might now be going against his heartless brother to stop the games that are funding his empire. Read on to know more.

According to the theory, Hwang Jun-ho and Seong Gi-hun are working together to bring down the empire that ruined their lives. Interestingly, a promotional image shared by the streamer shows Hwang handcuffed to a bar for some reason while Seong stands next to him. Perhaps their journey begins with Gi-hun not trusting him at first but eventually forming a team after realizing that they both want the same thing. Only the release will tell if this theory holds true.

About Squid Game Season 2

Taking place three years after where the first season left off, Squid Game Season 2 has Gi-hun thrown into the game yet again, as shown in the new trailer. "Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the States and comes back with a new resolution in his mind," reads the official Season 2 synopsis. "Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won."

Squid Game 2 is set to release on Netflix on December 26, 2024. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
